Quartet commit to The Gap for season 2021

The Gap is excited to announce the signings of four key players for the 2021 Brisbane Premier League campaign.

Liam Geraghty

Liam is in his fifth year at the Gap and has taken over as the team captain for the 2021 season. A no-nonsense hard-working fullback who due to injuries stepped in at CB last year. Liam said, “It was an absolute honour to take over the captain’s armband, and I hope that I can help lead the team to finals football this year.”

Florian Seinin

Florian has played football all his life and played CB in France at a high level until he arrived at The Gap last year. Unfortunately, due to injuries, he only played 120 minutes in 2020 and now, having returned fit and well, hopes to form a formidable partnership with Alex Readman in the heart of The Gap defence this year.

Hugo Cretois

Hugo, like Florian, has French heritage but has lived in Australia most of his adult life. He played Capital League 2 at Bardon with head coach Mark Strickland and followed Mark to The Gap in 2020. Hugo is normally seen as a hard-working midfielder but may find himself playing further forward in 2021, a role he looks forward to very much.

Jacob Pratten

Jacob is new to The Gap having played most of his youth in NSW and in Canberra where he first played for head coach, Mark Strickland, in 2015. Jacob is a box-to-box midfielder with an eye for goal. He has already started to build a good understanding with his new teammates and has said his main aim for 2021 is to ensure The Gap improve their form and league positioning from 2020 and looking at the players around the club, like Liam, believes we should be pushing top four.

The Gap BPL has retained what head coach Mark calls, ‘his senior squad’ less one. In addition, the club has recruited well and the depth within the club for 2021 will stand the team in good shape for what we hope will be a very good season.

The Gap FC welcomes Liam, Florian, Hugo, Jacob to the family and wishes them all the best for the 2021 season.
