After starting her football career in country New South Wales, Liz Doherty found herself consolidating her football skills north of the border in Queensland. Liz, a versatile midfielder, played her last four seasons with Olympic Football Club and was disappointed when it did not secure an NPLW licence. Another move, this time north of the Brisbane River, sees Doherty utilising her football experience and leadership qualities at The Gap for the 2018 season.
“It has always been a massive challenge playing against The Gap, so it’s an exciting prospect to be kitting up for them. Rob Askew and the players themselves were the biggest attraction for me. There are some incredible players in the squad and I'm counting down the days to start the season with the girls.”
Coach Rob Askew said, “I am really delighted to have Liz join our club. In the short time we have had her with us she has shown that she is a quality person and player. We definitely will benefit from her versatility and game intelligence, as well as the enthusiasm and hunger for success that she as a new player will bring to our squad.”
Welcome on board Liz.
