NPL 2018 player update: Blackburn back to burn up the opposition

By Juniors Editor on

Ruth Blackburn has been the cornerstone of the Gap Football Club's Women’s NPL team's continuing success.

Ruth's formidable football career includes representing Australia at U20 level, playing in the inaugural W-League season for Brisbane Roar in the 2008/2009 season and again in 2015/2016 and also a season with Adelaide United.

Recipient of The Gap Football Club's Women’s Golden Boot and Players' Player awards for 2017, Ruth returns in 2018 to play at The Gap in her twelfth season.

"I re-signed for The Gap Football Club, as I continue to be challenged and develop as a player, because of the high standards the club upholds and the great players it attracts. 2018 is a year where we are faced with the challenge of rebuilding our team after losing some key players to retirement, and re-establishing ourselves as the most competitive side in the NPL.”

Coach Rob Askew says, “Ruth has been with The Gap since she was 12. She is Gap through and through and the heart of our team. I am delighted she is returning to help our 2018 campaign.”

Welcome back Ruth.
