Faith returns home in 2021

The Gap FC is proud to welcome home one of their own, Faith Stephenson, for the 2021 NPLW season.

Faith returns to the Gators after three seasons with the QAS NPLW Senior Women.

Starting her football journey at the late age of 11 with local club Samford Rangers, Stephenson was a natural talent and made the move to The Gap two years later after being selected in the U13 and U15 NPLW squads.

Stephenson was invited to train with the Brisbane Roar U17 squad which saw her travel to Sydney in 2018 to represent the U15 QLD School Girls team and was awarded ‘Players’ Player’ for the series. The same year Stephenson travelled to Newcastle to captain Kelvin Grove SC in the Bill Turner Cup and was named ‘Player of the Series’.

In 2019, Stephenson was selected for the U17 Brisbane Roar NTC team and the U18 QAS team that competed in the NPLW QLD senior women’s competition.

“I can’t wait to get back on the pitch in 2021 with my former club,” Stephenson said.

“I’m looking forward to improving my game and the opportunity to work with the younger age groups at the club to ultimately bring our football program together at The Gap.”

Faith is no stranger to individual accolades, earning multiple awards over the years ranging from Rising Star, Coaches Awards, Player of the Year and most recently, ‘Players’ Player of the Year’ at the QAS, which shows how highly she is rated amongst her peers.

“One of the hardest working players you will find, Faith embodies what we are creating across the entire club,” Gap FC Technical Director and NPLW Senior Women’s Coach, Mick Gallo, said.

“Bringing back a player that has come through our junior NPLW program, spending two fantastic seasons away with the QAS, further developing her game, and now returning to take up a senior position is massive for the club. Like our first signing in Bree Wallace, you can see a distinct focus on the leadership qualities that we are targeting for the club. I am excited to work with Faith in 2021.”

The Gap FC welcomes Faith to the family and wishes her all the best for the 2021 season.
