What is the FFA Curriculum?

The FFA curriculum is a comprehensive program developed by the FFA to develop players from U6 to the open age group to develop a style of football that is described as follows:

A proactive brand of football, based on effective possession with the cutting edge provided by creative individuals. Defensively the key components are quick transition and intelligent collective pressing. The Playing Style is underpinned by a strong ‘team mentality’, capitalising on Australia’s traditional strengths.

The phases in the curriculum are as follows:

  • U6 - U9 The Discovery Phase
  • U10 - U13 The Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP)
  • U14 - U17 The Game Training Phase
  • U17 and above Performance Phase
