Referee Appointments

We're always on the lookout for referees for our matches, from our very youngest U6s and U7s up to seniors, men and women, with all other age groups in between.

If you would like to be a referee at our club, we encourage you to take Football Australia's free, online Laws of the Game course. To do that, you'll need to head to the FA Learning Centre and create an account and login. Then choose Training Library from the left column and choose this option →

Once you have completed the course a certificate should appear in the Skills Passport section. Download it and email it to our admin officer.

When you've completed that process you'll be ready to referee matches at our club. The next step is to join our referee appointments system by first creating an account. Once you've created an account, you'll then see matches that you're elibigible to referee. You can self-select matches that you wish to officiate.

Eligibility criteria

  • You will only be able to see matches where the players are either the same age or younger than you.
  • U6–U8 matches are limited to refs who are 11–13 years old.
  • There is a limit of 3 matches per week. If by the end of the week there are still matches requiring refs, an admin may assign you to additional matches.
  • You can choose to be an assistant referee (linesperson) but only after a centre ref has been assigned to a match.

Notes

For juniors and seniors matches (U13 and up), the expectation is that Football Queensland (FQ) will provide refs wherever they can. Our club refs will fill in for any games that FQ refs don't take.

FQ's own referees appointment system isn't linked to ours and they have no awareness of our own internal appointments which can sometimes lead to an FQ ref assigning themselves to a match after a club ref has done so. To avoid this situation, club refs should avoid assigning themselves to any U13+ matches more than one week in advance.

In the event that a FQ ref assigns themselves to a match after you claim it for yourself, you should get a notification.

If when you login you don't see any matches, it will mean that other refs have already taken all the ones available for a particular week.
