Director of Coaching: Gerry McAvoy
Gerry returns to The Gap after a four year absnce. In his previous time here Gerry was the Mens first team coach which saw him gain promotion from Premier Division 2 to Premier Division 1. In addition, Gerry was our club DOC. Looking more broadly, Gerry has been coaching for some 22 years with experience in Australia and in Europe. Gerry has an AFC B Licence, and is currently working towards his A Licence. Gerry has played in the Irish Premier League and has worked with coaches at the Stoke City and Reading Academies in England and with the Celtic Academy in Scotland.
Gerry’s passion lies in developing young players to be the very best that they can be and he does this both within club football and through his interstate academies. He will deliver a comprehensive junior football development program in accordance with the FFA National curriculum.

SEQ Diamond League Team Coach: Rob Askew
Rob has been coaching for the last 20 years except in 2009-10 when he took a Sabbatical. Most of the work Rob has undertaken has been in affiliation with The Gap Pastime Club. Specifically his roles have included DOC since 1997, First Team Coach 1993-1997, 1999-2005 (Premiers 2004) and in 2012 (for which he won the every trophy available in 2012 including the Elaine Watson cup, the premiership and grand final).Assistant first team coach and mentor for Mel Andreatta when she was Head Coach in 2006, 2007 and 2008 (won two GFs in 07 and 08). Reserve Grade coach 1998, Youth team from 2005-2008 (2 Prems and 2 GF wins) and the Under 14 JPL coach in 2011.
Looking further back Rob worked with the old Brisbane North doing their Academy in 1994-1998, assisted Allan Waller with a Brisbane Nth under 14 side in 1998, assisted Russel Somerville in 1996 for Brisbane Nth under 12s, coached a Brisbane Nth development side in 1999 and coached a Qld under 14 Futsal side in 1994.
Rob brings a wealth of experience to The Gap Pastime Club and has achieved great results during his tenureship with our club. Robs currently holds an AFC ‘B’ Licence

APL Under 18′s Coach: Jason Powell
Jason is still relatively new to The Gap joining us in 2012 to take on the JLP under 14 girls and the under 15 Division 1 boys. In 2013 Jason’s role will be Junior Development officer of the under 12’s to under 18’s working under the direction of the High Performance Manager – Mark Boyd. In addition, Jason will also assume the role of head coach for an Australian Premier League girls’ team. Jason’s coaching experience dates back to 1988 and includes coaching senior and junior teams across Queensland, including representative coaching roles as Central Queensland Zone Manager and Central Queensland Assistant coach at the under 16’s level. Jason holds an FFA ‘C’ Licence and is currently undergoing the FFA ‘B’ Licence course.

APL Under 14′s Assistant Coach: Fatima Flores
Fatima is a current player for our Women’s Sapphires and Diamond teams. In 2013 Fatima’s role will be Junior Development officer of the under 9’s to under 11’s working under the direction of the High Performance Manager – Mark Boyd. Fatima’s playing history included senior football at Mount Gravatt and Easts. Her representative honours as a player include Met Easts, Queensland school girls and various Football Queensland teams. As a coach, Fatima has trained several junior girls’ teams as Mt Gravatt and The Gap Pastime Club, junior and senior girls at All Hallows College, Assistant Coach of Coach Cavendish Road SHS Bill Turner Team 2010 and Marsden State High School in 2010. Fatima currently holds an FFA Youth Coaching License and is in the process of completing her FFA Senior Coaching License by early 2013.

APL Under 13′s Assistant Coach: Megan Price
Megan is a current player in our highly successful women’s South East Queensland Diamond League team. Megan began playing senior women’s at The Gap Pastime Club in 2007 after playing in our youth team in 2006. Prior to this Megan played junior football at Toowong FC. Megan’s playing honours include Football Brisbane Diamond League Select team of 2012, Queensland School Girls in 2010 and Australian School Girls shadow in the same year. Megan currently holds a Youth Coaching Licence and will be completing her Senior Coaching Licence in 2013.
