NPL 2018 player update: Winter is coming back for season 2018

By Juniors Editor on

Katie Winter will return to play at The Gap Football Club in 2018 for her sixth season. Winter started playing at The Gap in the U14 NPL competition and in the following season she played her first game with the Open women's team.

A talented, versatile player who has played representative football in the Queensland Schools competition and Football Queensland since she was 10, Winter also played in the U19 Australian Schools team in 2015 against teams in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Now a senior member of the women's squad, Winter will be pivotal in The Gap's efforts to win back the premiership in 2018.

"I always want to play at my best and the only way for me to do this is to play with the best team and coach in the NPL competition. My team members are quality players which helps to lift my game and are supportive and fun to train with too. I look forward to returning to play at The Gap and the challenge of maintaining our premier position in women's football in Queensland."

Coach Rob Askew said, “I have known Katie since she was 13 and she has always had game changing and leadership qualities. A big part of our inconsistency last season was Katie's injuries and unavailability. She has been working hard to rectify these problems and I am confident she will give us even more drive and goals from midfield in 2018.”

Welcome back Katie.
