A strong and determined defender, Greta Liell-Cock is the latest signing for The Gap FC NPLW Senior squad, adding experience and leadership to the defensive line for the coming season.

Growing up on Sydney’s northern beaches, Greta began her football career at the age of six, spending her junior years with powerhouse women’s club, Manly FC.

She made her first Women's Premier League appearance in 2013 and finished top of the table in the 2017 season in the first-grade squad which was invited to compete in the 2017 NSW Champions of Champions Tournament.

After moving to Brisbane early in 2018, she signed on with The Gap before transferring to Mitchelton FC for the 2019 and 2020 NPLW seasons.

“I am incredibly excited about returning to The Gap for the 2021 and the upcoming season,” Liell-Cock says.

“The Gap has a great history in women’s football and I am looking forward to being a part of it!”

The Gap FC NPLW Technical Director and Head Coach, Mick Gallo, spent 2020 observing Liell-Cock’s performances before approaching her with a contract for the 2021 season.

“I wasted no time pursuing Greta to sit down and discuss her goals for 2021,” Gallo said.

“It’s great to bring another player back that has spent time at The Gap whose vision and goals for her own game match perfectly to what we are building within the club.

“Greta is a hardworking and well-respected defender and brings experience and leadership both on and off the pitch that will play a huge part in guiding and leading our young squad in 2021 and beyond.

“A mentally strong and determined player, Greta possesses the growth mindset that we look for in our players and embodies the culture we want to bring to the club. Despite her technical ability, she is always eager to learn and develop, and is always happy to take on any role for the team. I am excited to help develop her game and take it to the next level.”

The Gap FC welcomes Greta to the family and wishes her all the best for the 2021 season.
