On Sunday, the club’s Treasurer Glenys Wilkinson was recognised for her contribution to the club as a volunteer.

Glenys received an award at a Queensland Day ceremony organised annually by local state MP Kate Jones.

Glenys was one of 25 people who were granted these awards.

It says everything about her selfless contribution to the club that Glenys, husband Peter and son Andrew trooped down to the ceremony at Ashgrove bowls club having first opened up the clubhouse for the senior women’s fixtures.

After the ceremony, a cup of tea and a profiterole, (you guessed it) they all leapt into the car to head back to the club to watch daughter Melanie in the women’s prems.

Glenys is by no means the only person at the club whose contribution deserves recognition like this. But she is certainly in the first rank.

Congratulations Glenys.
