Penininsular Power  3              The Gators 2

                                                  Chris Mead, Tom Cudworth

We went away to AJ Kelly Park knowing this was going to be a very tough game, as in the last round Peninsular Power put 17 goals past another 2nd division side.  The Power were at near full strength and playing with some of their young boys. I changed the playing formation against a more experienced power side.

I rested seven 1st team players to see what our young boys could do.  Peninsular Power scored 1st with scrappy play in the box and we responded well with a long ball into the back line and put pressure on the more experienced defenders.  The ball came off Foreshore’s head and fell to the feet of young Chris Mead at the back post and he finshed well, 1-1. Peninsular power went in front again with a pass I believe was off side, but they finished well 2-1. We went in at half time 2-1 down but re grouped and come our with nothing to lose, but once again Peninsular Power’ s Royce Brownlie scored again and our heads dropped. With 1st team positions to play for though they all stoop up.  A nice run into the box by Chris Mead, saw him taken down by Peninsular Power and a penalty was given to the Gators. Tom Cudworth stood up and put the ball into the far corner 2-2. Game ON. We had the big boys on the ropes for the last 20 minutes of the game.

The game finished 3-2, but it was good to see our young boys stepping up and doing their club proud, I was very happy and proud of them all.
